After a stormy morning the sky cleared so I took the Solarscope out to do a sunspot count while I had the chance. |

Further to yesterday's observation about active area 898's appearance I could see that the umbra had broken up into 4 different spots — all surrounded by a common penumbra. The adjacent spot that I saw yesterday wasn't visible. I could also see a new active area — 899 — coming around the limb of the Sun. Within it I could count 2 small, faint spots. |
